Terms of use
Short, because a long one nobody reads is not agreement, it is decoration.
What we provide
A directory of New Zealand producers. For each farm we publish what it tells us, plus one thing we check ourselves: whether its stated certification matches the certifier’s own register, and when we last looked.
What that check does and does not mean
A verified mark on this site means: on the date shown, the certificate number given matched that certifier’s public register. That is all it means. It is not an inspection, we do not visit farms, and we are not a certifying body.
Certification can lapse or be withdrawn between checks. When a certificate’s expiry date passes, the mark is removed automatically. If you are relying on certification for something that matters, the certifier’s own register is the authority — and every listing links to it.
Claims marked declared are the producer’s word, presented as the producer’s word. We do not verify them and we do not present them as verified.
Using the site
You may not:
- Scrape it wholesale or reproduce the directory as your own.
- Write reviews about your own farm, or arrange for others to.
- Impersonate a producer or claim a farm that is not yours.
- Use it to harass anyone.
Accounts that do these things get suspended. Where a farm listing is involved it is unpublished rather than deleted, and the record of why remains.
If you list a farm here
You confirm you are entitled to speak for it, and that what you publish is true — particularly anything about certification, which we will check. A false certification claim is not a listing error; it is the one thing this platform exists to prevent, and it will be removed and not restored.
You keep ownership of your words and pictures, and give us permission to show them here. Take your listing down whenever you like.
Buying from producers
Any purchase is between you and the farm. We are not a party to it, we take no commission, and we cannot resolve a dispute about it. Your rights against the seller under the Consumer Guarantees Act and the Fair Trading Act are unaffected by anything on this page.
What we are responsible for
We take reasonable care that what we publish is accurate, and we correct it promptly when it is not. We cannot guarantee the site is always available or always current — a certificate can change the day after we check it.
Nothing here limits rights you have under New Zealand consumer law where those rights apply. Where liability can lawfully be limited, ours is limited to correcting the listing and, if you are a paying producer, refunding what you paid for the period affected.
Changes
When these terms change in a way that affects you, the change is described on this page and the date at the bottom moves. We do not rewrite them quietly.
Where this is governed
New Zealand law, New Zealand courts. Questions to support@organicmatters.nz.
These terms and the privacy statement are drafts. They describe what the software actually does, which is the right starting point, but they have not been reviewed by a lawyer and should be before the site opens to the public.
