In season and bought direct, organic is often close to the same money. Out of season and bought in a supermarket is where the eye-watering premiums live. Seconds, bulk boxes and whole-animal splits are cheaper again — and several producers here run sliding scale or koha boxes, which you have to ask about because they do not advertise them.
