Other ways of farming

Regenerative, biological, spray-free, biodynamic-without-certification and conventional farms. They are part of Organic Matters. None of them is certified organic.

Why these are on a separate page

You do not have to be organic to be part of Organic Matters. You do have to be organic to be called organic here.

A farm without an organic certificate is not organic on this platform, whatever its practices — because listing it as organic would take the meaning out of the word for the farms that went through certification. None of the farms below appears on the organic directory, the map, or in any search for organic.

Everything each of them says about itself is its own word. Nobody here has checked any of it.

What an organic certificate restricts, and these listings cannot

This is not a claim about any farm above. It is what is true of every farm without an organic certificate, including the ones doing excellent work:

A certified organic farm is audited against all of these by its certifier, and we check the certificate number against that certifier’s own register. What that check actually involves.

Farm this way and want to be here? Register your farm — it is free, as it is for everybody. Thinking about converting? What certification involves.
